  • A number of Rugose corals, both simple and compound, in which it is developed have been described from the Palæozoic rocks of North America, particularly from the Devonian; to quote instances: Laccophyllum acuminatum Simpson Bull.   • Edwards and Haime's figure of the under surface of “Heliolites murchisoni” Mon. Brit. Foss. Corals 1854 pl. lvii. fig. 6, might very well have been obtained from the specimen of Aulina rotiformis now before me.
