  • 1739 . Timothy Brett was possibly the son of Captain Timothy Brett who had died in whilst commanding the Royal Yacht. He was doubtless a near relative of Captain (afterwards Admiral Sir) Peircy Brett who had also gone round the world with Anson. Timothy was a clerk in the office of the Treasurer of the Navy, becoming in 1755 a Commissioner of the Sick and Wounded Board. From June 1756 till October 1782 he was a Commissioner of the Navy Board
