- The Spencer Papers 13 Left blank in Sir Oswyn Murray's MS. The reference is presumably to vol. I, p., where Middleton writes: “Much business has been done by letter which ought to have been done by order. This practice is frequently unavoidable for want of members to sign and to save time, but the orders should be made out afterwards and entered in the order book. The subjects attended to are the movements of ships and payments of money.” [Ed.]
