• Exchequer Port Books for late seventeenth-century Whitehaven survive only for 1688. Most of the details given are derived from two notebooks laid out in the same way and giving the same type of information. These were possibly compiled as part of the defence in a case brought by the Customs Commissioners against the Collector of Whitehaven.
