- The classical tetrahedrane structure of E4H4 1E has Td symmetry where each hydrogen atom is terminally bonded to an atom E. Nonclassical tetrahedranes have one or more hydrogen atoms which are bridging two or three atoms E. Examples are structure 2E which has also Td symmetry but the hydrogen atoms are face-bridging between three atoms E. Other nonclassical tetrahedrane-type structures are 3E, 4E, 5E, 7E, 14E where the E4 core does not have Td symmetry
