Ber. , 29 : 2415 reported the reaction between iodoacetonitrile and silver nitrite but incorrectly identified compound 3 bp. 160-162° (12 mm), as dicyanomethazonic acid (O2NCH(CN)C(CN)=NOH). He also obtained compound 4 C6H4N4O2, but did not assign a structure. With very minor modifications his directions have been repeated
