Stuttgart : Wissenchaftliche Verlags-gesellschaft MBH . i.e. 1.5% agar blocks of 1.5 cm2 × 0.05 cm are placed on the end of a glass slide and clamped in an inverted position in such a manner that the face of the agar block is directly over the reaction vessel. After the specimen is collected the surface of the agar is covered with a drop of 0.6% nitrocellulose in amylacetate (collodion solution). In 3 minutes trim each edge vith a sharp blade and float the membrane (pseudoreplica) off on the surface of the negative stain (30 cc of 0.4Z uranyl acetate plus 6 drops of 1% uranyl-magnesium acetate) in a 30 ml beaker. Place a 400 mesh copper grid on the film and retrieve it after immersing it on the end of a peg. The grids are covered vith a light coat of evaporated carbon and examined at 12,000 diameters for counting and at 32,000 diameters for qualitative information, in press
