  • Assignments are based on the H NMR resonance of the H-3 in products, the signal appearing at ca. 6 7.5. Much higher field 6 values would be expected for the (E) products. The large difference between the two signals is manifest in the product where both H-3 protons are present, i. e., 6: H-3(Z) at 6 5.37 and H-3(E) at 6.67.
  • All new compounds were fully characterised by the usual physical methods. Isolated yields are shown.
