- We obtained very moderate yields (5-12%) when we tried to prepare the diethers in classical liquid-liquid PTC conditions in the presence of a solvent (CH2Cl2 or C6H6). On the other hand, this technique was successful in the case of very reactive alkylating agents (short chains, allylic, benzylic or activated aromatic halides)15,16
