  • Melting points were determined either on a Thomas Hoover capillary melting point apparatus or a Reichert hot stage apparatus and are uncorrected. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectra were recorded on Varian T-60 and HA-100 instruments and are reported in parts per million from internal tetramethylsilane. Infrared and mass spectra were recorded on Perkin-Elmer 137 and CEC-110B instruments, respectively. Anhydrous sodium sulfate or magnesium sulfate was used for drying of organic solutions. The authors acknowledge the assistance of the Department of Physical Chemistry for obtaining the spectra and elemental analyses.
