- We also detected the resulting aldehyde which was treated with diazomethane to give the corresponding ester aldehyde. The spectral data for this compound is shown as follow: IR (thin film) 2960, 2729, 1745, 1723, and 818 cm−1 1H NMR (200 MHz, CDC13) δ 9.94 (d, 1H, J=3 Hz), 7.15 (ABq, 4H, J=8 Hz), 3.65 (s, 3H), 3.32 (d, 1H, J=3 Hz), 2.35 (s, 3H), 2.33-2.56 (m, 2H), 1.70 (m, 2H), 1.06 (s, 3H), and 0.97 (s, 3H). 6. The physical properties are identical with the de Mayo's ketone 7 in reference (2d) and/or in reference (2e).
