• A variety of Dowex resins with different degrees of cross linking and mech sizes are commercially available. Our choice of this resin was guided by previous work3 wherein Dowex 50WX-2–200 (Na) (100–200 dry mech) was used to produce 25-mer oligonucleotides in Na' form by ion-exchange process. The mesh size and degree of cross linking of this resin appartntly precludes any retention of the oligonucleotide within the resin pores
