Phonetics, Personality and Status in Israel

  • Most of the families speaking Judeo-Spanish in this sample came from Turkey. Greece, Bulgaria or Palestine.
  • Most of the Yiddish-speaking families had immigrated from Poland or Russia.

  • Psychoanalysts would show immediate interest in this cluster of oral symptoms in feeding problems, thumb sucking, lisping and the additionally frequent problems in learning to read.
