Specom: A review of our language and our times in 1984

  • By special decree, doctors of philosophy have been permitted to retain the designation Ph.D. in the vulgate, rather than to have the term translated into UNA. By a vexatious computer error the honorific was once widely disseminated as ‘Phod’ and this rendering is still common, much to the discomfort of members of ANSPA (American National Society of Ph.D.’s and Associates).
