  • The physical relevance for near-resonant condition 2Δβ = βa + βc - 2βb ≈ 0 is classes of triple-core couplers with modal propagation constants β1 and β2 of each individual core and coupling coefficient C23 between core 2 and 3 that satisfy (β2 - β1)/C23 ≈ 3 for any C12 or separation between cores 1 and 2. Such a resonant condition can be realized for any triple-core coupler structure of isosceles triangle by adjusting one structural parameter, say C32, or separation between cores 2 and 3 when the other structural parameters β1, and β2 and C12 are arbitrarily fixed
