Eljas Erkko, the owner of Helsingin Sanomat, and future Foreign Minister told Blücher: “It is a psychological mistake to deal with the Russians in a friendly fashion. Once they noticed our softness, the Russians again became impudent. They have fired shots across the ice at Terijoki and refused to allow an investigation.” This was a reference to the wounding of a fisherman. See Blücher, diary, February 4, 1937, 204.
