  • This paper is based on fieldwork undertaken during 1995–7 in Sengezi resettlement area, Wedza district, Zimbabwe. A qualitative approach to research was taken using Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) workshops, interview schedules, key informant interviews with local officials and leaders, documentary research and newspaper analysis.
