- The expedition to the Kirghiz was undertaken by Granada Television accompanied by representatives of Afghan Films. The expertise for the journey was provided by Nazif Shahrani (who also did the translations), a social anthropologist writing up his field experience among the Kirghiz at the University of Washington. The film team consisted of, apart from myself, Charlie Nairn, director; John Davey, cameraman; Eoin MaCann; sound‐recordist; Messrs Kaviani and Hosseini, Afghan Films.
