  • In the United States of America although General Industry, OSHA safety and Health Standards, 1981 does not give general rulings on light levels for detailed visual work, it follows the American Standards Institute's Practice for Industrial Lighting, ANSI A11, 1–1965 (R1970) in a number of sections. The general attitude seems best expressed in the section (1910268) relating to Telecommunications, Lighting in telecommunications centers must be adequate to ensure that work operations, routine observations and passage of employees can be carried out in a safe and healthful manner For specific tasks that require higher levels of illumination. permanent or portable supplementary lighting must be provided.
