  • According to the Victorian Branch Secretary in a telephone conversation on 3 March, 1984 , only about one-fourth of the eligible members actually join the Association. In October 1981 there were approximately 2500 qualified social workers in Victoria and 641 members (25%). Though the numbers are rising slowly, this percentage has been generally typical.

  • Victoria is unique in being the only state that has a social work award in the non-government sector. It is now 15 years ( 1969 ) since supervision was written into the job definitions of Class II Social Workers and implicit in Class III and IV under the Social and Community Services Award in Victoria.
