  • A debrominated product, 2′,3′-O-isopropylideneuridine, was also isolated in 24% yield as a by-product as described previously. 2 On the other hand, the debrominated product was not detected by tlc analysis of the reaction mixture in the reaction of 1a with diphenyl disulfide
  • Although the reaction of 1b which possesses more free hydroxyl groups than 1a was also carried out in the presence of four equivalents of sodium hydride, the yield of 3a was not improved.
