He has since completed his Masters and PhD theses in engineering in the area of integrated production management systems and is currently working for the CIM Research Unit in Galway, Ireland. His research interests include production planning and control, simulation, and AI applications in manufacturing.
  • JIMMIE BROWNE. Jimmie Browne is the Director of the CIM Research Unit at University College Galway, Ireland. He is responsible for managing ESPRIT and industrially based research projects for the unit. He holds the Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in engineering, has had many publications in this area and is a co-author of two books entitled Production Management Systems—A CIM Perspective, published by Addison-Wesley in 1988, and Shop Floor Control Systems—From Design to Implementation, published by Chapman and Hall in 1991.
