- Leo van Houtven made his career at the International Monetary Fund, where he held the positions of Chief of the Western and Southern European Divisions and of Director of the IMF's Office in Europe‐Paris, before being designated as the Secretary of the IMF in 1977. In 1987 he obtained the additional title of Counsellor. Since his retirement from the IMF in 1996, he has served as a consultant to the Managing Director and as President of the Per Jacobson Foundation.
