Mercury in oil emulsions are not new, but references to such emulsions are rare and then usually brief., Kolloid Z. 49 (1929), 97

  • The only comparatively extensive study is that found in the 1940 Thesis of A.L. Lingard ( University of Kansas ) but this results are not reported in the open literature.
  • We have kept a value Hoke 4251C1C4y in a line which connects the two sides of the pressure transducer. This allows the system to be opened to atmosphere without catastrophically deforming the membrance. Similar values connect each side of the cell to an oil pumped liquid nitrogen trapped vaccum line (1×10-6mm Hg).

  • Veinberg gives P0·010 = 4·585 ± 0·002 mm Hg as the best value of the vapor pressure at 0·01 °C. Keyes, examining the same data takes P0.010 = 4·584 ± 0·001 mmHg. After a critical review of the original data we have chosen 4·585 as the best value. See G.Jansco, J.Pupezin, W. A.Van Hook, J. Phys. Chem. 74 (1970), 2984.
