Practicing Civic Engagement: Making your Museum into a Community Living Room

Stephen Long Stephen Long has served as Executive Director of the Children's Museum of the East End (CMEE) since June 2008. Under his direction, along with the Museum's staff and Board of Trustees, CMEE has increased its attendance, developed partnerships with an array of social service organizations in the community, and diversified its income streams. Prior to joining CMEE, Mr. Long worked at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum as the Vice President of Collections and Education. Mr. Long has consulted for dozens of museums around the country and taught courses on museums at New York University and the City College of New York. Before becoming a museum professional, Mr. Long worked as an award-winning radio producer. He has a Master of Arts in History from New York University and received his Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College.
