Human rights groups include the Communist Party-dominated Argentine League for Human Rights, founded in 1937; the Permanent Assembly for Human Rights, founded at the end of 1975 with multiparty participation; the Peace and Justice Service, led by 1980 Nobel laureate Adolfo P6rez Esquivel, functioning since 1974; and the Ecumenical Human Rights Movement, founded in February 1976 by religious and lay workers from several denominations.
