  • A publication of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee issued in 1936 includes a description of the Club of Bulgarian Amateur Wrestlers established on 21 Oct 1921. In an article entitled Wrestling in the same publication, Milan Milanov mentions a different date: 2 Oct 1933.(26 p. 195) Using this information prof. V. Tsonkov states that 1933 should be considered the year when organised amateur wrestling in Bulgaria began.(28;29) Having researched new evidence and documents, in 1977 prof. R. Petrov offered a new interpretation of the above statements and clarified that the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation was founded on 2 Oct 1932 with the following name: “Organisation of the Bulgarian Amateur Wrestlers” (11,12,13).
