“Not a City but a World”: Seville and the IndiesFootnote^*

* I wrote this piece while on a sabbatical fellowship in Seville awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture. Over the years my archival work in Spain and Latin America has been supported by the University of Alberta, Queen's University, the Killam Program of the Canada Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
