  • ••This article firstly shows that cytotoxicT cells in pathological lesions in RE are in direct contact with neurons. Neurons express MHC class I molecules and CD8 cytotoxic T cells contain GrB-positive granules in a polarised-position towards neurons. Neurons in these lesions died by apoptosis, thus together proposing a new pathogenic mechanism in Rasmussen's encephalitis.
