Dry Farming in the San Joaquin, California

Pages 94-99 | Published online: 09 Jun 2016

  • U. S. Weather Bureau. Bull. W. 2nd edit. 1926.
  • According to the above data this area falls into the Hot Steppe (BSh) of the Köppen system. Russell, in his “Climates of California” (Univ. Calif. Pub. in Geog., V. 2, No. 4), erroneously places it in the Desert (BWh). Thornthwaite, in “The Climates of North America” (Geogr. Rev., V. XXI, No. 4), gives Newman a precipitation-effectiveness of 19.8, more than enough to give it the semi-arid (Steppe) classification.
