  • The Federal Republic's needs in oil come largely from the Middle East: about 25 million tons from Libya; 22.9 million tons from Saudi Arabia; and the rest from Algeria, Kuwait, Iran and Nigeria.
  • Portugal depends to a large degree on its Angolan oil fields.
  • A scheme has been devised by France together with Italy, Spain and Sweden for an international uranium plant which would cost some 7,000 million francs to build.
  • France gets 50 to 60 per cent of its requirements in natural gas from Holland.
  • The Socialist International, discredited since Lenin banished it into the counterrevolutionary camp during World War I, has grouped Social Democratic parties in the world but has little prestige even with its member parties.
