Special issue information

Special Issue Guidelines - West European Politics

West European Politics welcomes proposals for special issues. The Journal normally publishes two special issues per year. They are selected on a competitive basis. Full proposals for special issues should be submitted at least two years before planned publication. Proposals considered suitable by the editors will be reviewed prior to a decision being taken. All articles published in the Journal are subject to our double anonymous peer review system, with reviewers chosen by special issue editors in consultation with the editors of the journal. Decisions on publication will be taken on the basis of reviewers’ reports. An invitation to prepare a special issue does not constitute a guarantee of publication of either the special issue or of individual articles therein.

Special issue proposals should set out the objectives, research questions and approaches guiding the volume and specify its content and structure. The research to be presented should be explained clearly. The proposal should also include the abstracts of all articles and short biographical notes on the contributors. Please note that WEP special issues normally contain between 8 and 10 articles. The proposal document should not exceed 8 pages.

Special issue proposals should be submitted to the editors via the WEP office - email [email protected].

Symposium guidelines

West European Politics welcomes proposals for symposia. Symposia may address a common empirical concern in the study of European politics, government or public policy; focus on conceptual or theoretical debates; discuss methodological advances; or engage with topical normative questions. Symposia comprise three to six articles. They are selected on a competitive basis. All articles published in the journal are subject to double blind peer review, with reviewers chosen by the editors of the journal. Decisions on publication will be taken on the basis of reviewers’ reports. An invitation to prepare a symposium does not constitute a guarantee of publication of either the symposium or of individual articles therein.

A symposium proposal should set out the objectives, questions and approaches and specify the symposium’s content and structure. The proposal should also include the abstracts of all articles and short biographical notes on the contributors. The proposal document should not exceed 4 pages.

Symposium proposals should be submitted to the editors via the WEP office - email: [email protected].
