A Roundtable Contribution to the International Association for Impact Assessment’s 41st Annual Conference.

Created 11 Apr 2022| Updated 11 Apr 2022 | 9 articles

The International Association for Impact Assessment’s 41st annual conference (#IAIA22) focuses on confidence in Impact Assessment (IA). IAIA22 emphasises the role of legislation and policy in building confidence in impact assessment, and emerging taxonomies for sustainable finance have the potential to deliver greater confidence in IA through requirements for ‘Do No Significant harm’ (DNSH), and creating a mandate for a ‘substantial contribution’ towards sustainable development. A roundtable contribution to IAPA (Vol 40, Issue 2) debates the merits of sustainable finance taxonomies, and their potential implications for IA practice into the future. Given arguments that sustainable finance taxonomies can change the mindsets associated with IA practice, this roundtable discussion is essential reading for an IA practitioner or researcher.
