Journal overview

Settler Colonial Studies is a peer reviewed academic journal, which is published four times a year. It is fully online from 2023 onward.

Settler Colonial Studies seeks to address the theoretical and practical aspects and implications of settler colonialism in the past and in the present. The journal was established to respond to a growing demand for reflection and critical scholarship on settler colonialism as a distinct social and historical formation. It is multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary by nature, encouraging submissions from multiple different academic disciplines, including, but not limited to, history, literature, Indigenous studies, area- and cultural studies, archaeology, anthropology, environmental humanities, genocide studies, and memory studies.

The journal aims to be inclusive, open for lively debates, varied opinions, and different theoretical orientations and epistemologies. It strives to be a global forum for nuanced and varied discussions on settler colonialism, welcoming submissions from scholars regardless of their nationality, creed, race, ethnicity, and gender. The journal welcomes submissions from scholars in their different career stages, including early career researchers and doctoral students.

This journal considers original, previously unpublished, research articles as well as suggestions for roundtables, discussions, and book reviews and review essays. We also welcome proposals for thematic issues. Please contact the editors with your suggestions.

Peer review policy
All research articles in this journal will undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and double-anonymized refereeing by at least two reviewers.
