‘Page, stage, engage’: a case study activating citizenship and drama education in China

ORCID Icon

ABSTRACT

The aim of this essay is to consider some of the issues and possibilities presented by recent developments in citizenship education and drama education in China. It is written from the personal perspective of a drama practitioner whose professional life has given her first-hand experience of those developments. This essay reflected the literary legacy as explored through drama pedagogy. Using the ‘Rolling Role’ Learning Model invented by UK drama educator, Dorothy Heathcote, applied in the educational contexts, I will contextualise my approach to interdisciplinary education relevant to citizenship and drama education.
