Abstract
Two caffeoyl derivatives were isolated for the first time from the seeds of Ipomoea fistulosa Mart, ex Choisy Jaeg. subsp. fistulosa (Mart ex Choisy) D.F. Austia (syn. I. carneaj. They were identified as 3-caffeoylquinic acid (clorogenic acid) and 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid esters. Their structures were elucidated by a combination of alkaline hydrolysis and one- and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy (1H-1H and 1H-13C COSY).
