Time-variable curricula affect the organization of both teaching hospitals and clinical service. For optimal implementation of time-variable training, service provision should be adjusted to education. Trainees play a key role in time-variable training; making self-management, communication, and empowerment important skills. Time-variable training requires (more) dedicated time for clinical teachers. For a smooth transition to time-variable training, there needs to be an alignment with hospital administrations.
