Dear Colleague,

The European Journal of General Practice (EJGP) is the official journal of WONCA Europe, the European Society of General Practice/Family Medicine. The EJGP is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal, established in 1995 and published in print and on line. It is indexed in Medline/PubMed and Embase.

We are planning to refresh the cover of the EJGP starting with Volume 18, 2012. We would like to have pictures on the cover, and you could lend us a helping hand. We are looking for cover photos that represent the work and world of family doctors (‘GPs’). We would like to invite you sending us photographs of you, your colleagues or your staff at work in your practice, during home visits, in your office, in your car, at the university etc. Send us pictures showing aspects of your work you are proud of, whether it is your supporting staff, the building you work in, special equipment you use, or a special skill you have. Or pictures showing every day work, communication, education, or research. Everything is welcome, both serious and funny situations, as long as the pictures are recognisable for your colleagues. In this way, we hope to build a small database of photos visualizing the work of family physicians/GPs across Europe.

For each issue the editorial team will select one or more pictures to be printed on the cover of the printed version of the EJGP.

The pictures need to be a high-resolution image about 300 dpi that would fit in a full cover in an A4 format, 215 mm width and 280 mm high.

Be careful with photographs of patients: respect their privacy in the same way as you would do in your practice. If there is a patient on your photograph, we need a statement that your patient agrees with a possible publication on the cover of the EJGP. If your photo shows colleagues, staff or students, we implicitly assume that they agree with possible publication.

For each photo, please include:

1. Your personal details (your name, postal address, e-mail address)

2. The name of the person who took the photo

3. Where and on what date it was taken

4. A short description of

a. who and what do we see on it

b. why it was taken or why you think the picture might be of interest

You can send your files by e-mail to Anneke Germeraad: [email protected]. Please mention ‘pictures EJGP’ in the subject line of your e-mail message.

When we want to use your picture, you will receive a copyright transfer form. You will receive a paper copy of the issue in which your photograph is published.

I look forward to receiving your pictures.

Appreciating all your efforts, sincerely yours,
