Page 196 | Published online: 22 Aug 2011

On the 22nd of July, the Editorial Office of the European Journal of General Practice (EJGP) received a message from Marian Hollingsworth, director Publisher Relations of Thomson Reuters, saying that this journal has been accepted for inclusion in the Science Citation Index Expanded and Current Contents/Clinical Medicine, beginning with the first issue of 2009. The journal will be listed in the 2011 Journal Citation Reports with an Impact Factor in June 2012. EJGP will be the fourteenth journal in the new subject category ‘Primary health care’.

I would like to congratulate all persons and organisations who have supported EJGP in achieving this milestone during the last two years. The success offers a bright perspective on the future. Now it is up to everyone who is committed to the case of family medicine research in Europe, authors as well as readers of scientific publications, to show that we can live up to our new status. The Editorial Team counts on a continued flow of good manuscripts on a broad variety of topics relevant for the development of primary care (research). We will continue to give our authors the highest possible service in efficient manuscript flow, constructive feedback and guidance on writing, to give European primary care a lively scientific journal that is representative for the creativity in this part of the world.
