EGPRN: EUROPEAN GENERAL PRACTICE RESEARCH NETWORK

EGPRN spring meeting in Barcelona, Spain, 8–11 May 2014: Prevention!

A great scientific event concerning primary healthcare will be held in Barcelona (Spain) from 8–11 May 2014. EGPRN will celebrate its 78th meeting on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. This could be an excellent excuse to come back or visit for the first time this beautiful city.

The scientific programme will deal with preventive activities: ‘Preventive activities in Primary Care; an approach from clinical and health services research.’ Freestanding contributions are welcome as well. Possible topics:

  • Preventive activities in Primary Care; an approach from clinical and health services research (physical activity; smoking; prevention of road traffic injuries; participative research strategies in multicultural population groups with socio-economic difficulties; health education community intervention programmes on nutrition and other lifestyles; variability; health inequalities)

  • Multimorbidity

  • Diabetes (education, prevention and treatment; metabolic syndrome)

  • Cardiovascular prevention (lifestyles: physical activity, smoking; mathematical models of risk; epidemiology; prevention and treatment)

  • Mental health/depression in primary (prevention and treatment)

We invite you to submit abstracts on the theme as oral, poster or a one-slide/five-minute presentation. Also freestanding papers, on any other topic, can be submitted before the deadline of 15 January 2014 at http://meeting.egprn.org/

The conference venue of EGPRN Barcelona will be in the Hospitals de Santa Creu I Sant Pau.

There are five eGPRN pre-conference workshops on Thursday 8 May 2014: parallel morning sessions (10.00–12.30 h); and parallel afternoon sessions (13.30–15.30 h): ‘Qualitative methods in Primary Care Research;’ ‘Methodology of complex interventions;’ ‘Multimorbidity: conceptual and methodological issues;’ ‘Use of electronic data bases for research in primary care;’ ‘Risk functions for preventing depression in primary care.’

Both the EGPRN executive board and the Spanish organizers are looking forward to welcoming you and to sharing science and experiences in Barcelona.
