Essay Management of Gender Reassignment (Sex Change) Patients

Reinhardt J. Heuer Dr. Reinhardt Heuer is a full professor in the Department of Communication Sciences, School of Health Professions, Temple University. He is also affiliated with the American Institute for Voice and Ear Research. Dr. Heuer's particular areas of interest are voice disorders, communication problems associated with transgenderism and neurological disorders of speech and language. He received his PhD from the University of Oregon, his MA from Brooklyn College, NYC and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Margaret Baroody Margaret Baroody is a singing voice specialist in the voice medicine practice of Dr. Robert T. Sataloff and Associates, and Instructor in the Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine. Widely recognized for her work with injured voices, Ms. Baroody is also a highly respected singing teacher who maintains a busy private studio. Ms. Baroody has written frequently on the subject of singing, with particular regard to the injured voice and vocal health. She is the author of over 25 published articles on voice as well as main author and contributing author of numerous book chapters. Ms. Baroody is a professional mezzo-soprano with extensive performance experience.

Robert Thayer Sataloff Robert T. Sataloff, MD, DMA, FACS is Professor and Chairman, Dept. of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeryand Associate Dean for Clinical Academic Specialties, Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Sataloff is Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the Voice Foundation and of the American Institute for Voice and Ear Research. He has served as President of the International Association of Phonosurgery, the American Laryngological Association and the Pennsylvania Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Sataloff is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Voice and the Ear, Nose and Throat Journal, Associate Editor of the Journal of Singing, and on the editorial boards of numerous otolaryngology journals. He has written over 600 publications, including 36 books. His medical practice is limited to care of the professional voice and to otology/neurotology/skull base surgery.
