Journal overview

Ophthalmic Genetics accepts original papers, review articles and short communications on the clinical and molecular genetic aspects of ocular diseases. The journal invites several types of contributions divided into sections:

  • Editorial - By invitation. To be written by the Editor-in-Chief or any other member of the editorial board. Preferably deals with articles in the same issue, but may deal with unrelated subjects of importance to the readership.
  • Reviews - Invited and uninvited reviews in ophthalmic genetics or related topics. May include synopsis of current literature on a specific topic.
  • Reports - Original research material on the clinical and molecular genetic aspects of the ocular disorders, including Mutation Reports.
  • Case reports - Articles dealing with single cases. No limitations on size of manuscripts.
  • Letters to the Editor - Correspondence submitted to the editors by the readers and pertaining to published articles. Includes replies of authors.
  • Research Letter - Short scholarly communication which may be original research or a comment in relation to a published work. In this case the letter may be accompanied by a Reply or response from the original authors.
  • Data Note - A brief description of a data set to promote reuse. Must include a data availability statement and at least one data citation. Should not include analyses or conclusions.
  • Method - Description of a method or protocol to be used in the design and execution of an experiment or study.
  • Images in Clinical Medicine ( Pictorial Work): Work consisting exclusively or mainly of pictures but not technical drawings.

Authors can choose to publish gold open access in this journal.
