Image Guided Therapies for CRC Metastasis
This collection is composed of 10 selected articles that describe the role of thermal ablation and other treatment modalities in the management of metastatic colorectal cancer. Emphasis is placed on liver and lung metastases in the setting of oligometastatic disease. To provide a balanced perspective, reviews on other modalities used to treat oligometastases are included: 1) irreversible electroporation, 2) Yttrium 90 radiation segmentectomy and 3) stereotactic body radiation therapy. The collection provides a framework for future applications, including the role that imaging can play in monitoring ablation progress as well as all-important margin assessment. Newer microwave ablation technology is also presented, as it may improve the management of oligometastases in selected sites.
