Created 28 Jul 2022| Updated 27 Mar 2023 | 16 articles

Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide. The deadliest cancers include lung, colorectal, stomach, liver and breast cancer. Ovarian cancer ranks fifth in cancer deaths among women, accounting for more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. The early diagnosis together with appropriate treatments are essentials for combatting the cancer burden and mortality. In this collection, we have selected several articles strengthening the role of radiotherapy (Gao et al) or offering great promises for new efficient treatments of several types of cancer (Al-Bari et al) and colorectal cancer (Boshtam et al). Other articles hold the reader in an exciting expectation as they reveal new possible therapeutic targets of ovarian cancers (Pu et al), of colorectal cancer (Lv et al and Zhao et al), of stomach cancer (Bi et al) and of colon and breast cancers (Avsar et al), of leukemia (Saad et al) and of any types of cancer (Lin et al). Beside of the therapies, series of manuscripts we selected, are major as they investigate the gene expression as a specific signature of cancer cells, which could lead to the identification of new biomarkers for better stratify the severity of some cancers as exemplified by Yuan et al in ovarian cancer, by Ouban et al in laryngeal cancer, by Kweku et al in breast cancer, by Ang et al in prostate cancer, by Wang et al and Lei et al in lung cancer.
