Ego State Therapy in the Management of Resistance

Pages 15-20 | Published online: 22 Sep 2011

Abstract

Resistance to hypnotherapy can appear at any stage of treatment, and may arise from a variety of sources. The author attempts to demonstrate that some of the psychoanalytic concepts concerning resistance can be useful in understanding these barriers to successful outcome, and that hypnotic techniques, primarily ego state therapy, can be used to analyze and resolve the difficulties.
