Hypnotic Dream Utilization in Hypnotherapy

Pages 62-67 | Published online: 22 Sep 2011

Abstract

This paper proposes the use of partially guided hypnotic dreams in hypnotherapy as a bridge to foster new exploration and problem solving. Two clinical examples are presented to illustrate the technique.

Responsiveness to the hypnotic dream suggestion given to sixteen patients is reported. The author concludes that the hypnotic dream is a useful tool in hypnotherapy and can be used routinely when problem solving is indicated.
