A Spontaneous Catatonic-Like Reaction Associated with Hypnotic Regression: A Brief Case Report

Abstract

A 27-year-old student was hypnotized and given suggestions to regress to a time in her childhood. She became cataleptic and would only respond nonverbally. She later described feeling panic-stricken and unable to talk. The implications and significance of this reaction are discussed.
