Abstract
The Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility, Form A, was administered to 169 undergraduates. Hypnotically susceptible and hypnotically non-susceptible subjects were then given the Rorschach. Analysis of the data consisted of comparisons between groups and with respect to normative values provided by Exner. Partial support was found for the hypothesis that greater hypnotizability is associated with relative mental health. However, the analysis of the data with respect to normative levels revealed that the relationship between hypnotic responsivity and psychopathology is far more complex than suggested by earlier studies.
