Abstract
Six cases are described involving unwanted aftereffects coincident with or following the use of hypnosis by trained professionals, lay hypnotists, and untrained laypersons. Inadequate dehypnosis, debriefing and follow-up are reflected in these cases. Preventive measures are suggested to minimize risk, and suggestions are given for the long-range improvement of the hypnosis milieu.
