Mathematical Modeling and Validation of the Thermal Regimes in Tundra Soils, Barrow, Alaska

Abstract

Efforts were made to develop a mathematical model of the thermal regimes in tundra soils. The results of field investigations during the summer and fall of 1970 in the vicinity of Barrow, Alaska, were used for validation of the model. Accuracy in simulating the field obser vations by the model is found satisfactory Effects of important factors affecting the thermal regime are also discussed.
